Mfr/Supplier Part #187987
Size3 ea (3 tubes (30 g) ea)
Indications
DuoDerm Gel is designed for the management of partial and full thickness wounds such as pressure sores and leg ulcers. The gel creates a moist healing environment which helps to promote the natural autolytic processes of debridement.
Directions
Carefully cleanses the wound with sterile water, saline, or according to normal hospital practice. Dry the surrounding skin. Unscrew the tube cap. (1) Remove and discard the white safety ring and (2) replace the cap to puncture the tube membrane. Apply DuoDerm Gel directly into the wound. Do not fill the wound beyond the level of the surrounding skin. An optimal wound healing environment may be created by covering the wound with a moisture retentive dressing such as DuoDerm Dressing or DuoDerm GCF Dressing. DuoDerm Gel should be changed when the cover dressing leaks or is removed for routine dressing changes. The gel can be rinsed out with sterile saline. In any case, it is recommended that DuoDerm Gel is changed at intervals not exceeding three days when used on sloughly, necrotic wounds, or seven days if used on clean, granulating wounds. Store at up to 25 degrees C: Avoid freezing.
Warnings
Colonization of chronic wounds is common and is not a contraindiction to the use of DuoDerm Gel. Where infection is suspected or develops during the use of DuoDerm Gel, appropriate antibiotic therapy should be initiated. The use of DuoDerm Gel may be continued, but the progress of the wound should be monitored carefully and all treatments should be under medical supervision. In the presence of anaerobic infection occlusive therapy is not recommended. The safety of DuoDerm Gel on third degree burns has not been established. The management of diabetic ulcers should include control of blood glucose and pressure relief. DuoDerm Gel, by providing a moist wound environment, assists in debridement and removal of necrotic tissue. This may result in the wound appearing larger after the first few dressing changes.
